THE MIGHTY MURRAY
THIS IS AN AQUAVAN ON THE MURRAY IN ROBINVALE ON THE BORDER OF
NSW AND VICTORIA.
I started this journey in August 2007 and finished August 2008
My itinerary was to travel the full length of the Murry River starting from the inlet into Lake Alexandria through to the high country in NSW. Unfortunately, in some areas I had to detour inland as it was impossible to follow the Murray all the way.
In Robinvale I came across this wonderful Aquavan which can also fit onto the back of a ute.
The story behind this one is quite funny, to outsiders that is, not to the owner.
The gentleman back his ute to the rivers edge to off load the van into the water. He got the van off the back the sailed it to where he was going to moor it.
In the meantime the ute started rolling back, he had forgotten to put hand brake on, and kept going till it was fully submerged in the river.
When it was pulled out it was a no go and was going to cost an arm and a leg to get it fixed.
The poor bloke was a pensioner so had to stay there and get a job till he had enough money to fix the ute.
